Wedding guests were treated to a warm September day at Vernon Downs as these two said their vows overlooking the horse track. As if on cue, a harness racer cruised by during the ceremony! The setting felt quintessentially Upstate New York in the fall—sage green hues, autumnal bouquets, wide open skies, and the epic Vernon Downs sunset that I fall in love with over and over again.
Inside, the reception carried that same relaxed, celebratory energy. Laughter echoed through the room, glasses clinked, and once the dance floor opened, it stayed full. At one point I slipped outside to find the guys gathered in a small circle, cigars lit and jackets off. I LOVE capturing those authentic moments that happen at various areas of the grand space at Vernon Downs.
And then—because no September wedding should end quietly—it finished with a champagne spray that sent everyone into cheers. The kind of ending that feels spontaneous, a little wild, and completely unforgettable…
