Katie & Lindsey. Their names will be forever shown like a marquee in bright lights, burned into my memory. Their day had it ALL. Ok, I’m getting ahead of myself already.
Let’s get this out of the way first: the wedding day was gorgeous. This couple’s design aesthetic is as timeless and modern as they come, so of course I adored all of the well thought out details and decorations. BUT, this is not what makes a wedding day enduring. The documentarian in me really thrives on genuine moments and authentic exchanges. Capturing the connections uniting two families together, forever altering the course of history and generations to follow. It is in the laughter and the tears, the looks people give each other without saying a word and the emotions that unfold. This wedding? It. Had. It. All. And I knew, I just KNEW upon my first meeting with Katie, that she was extraordinary!
Some highlights? We started with the new space in downtown Utica that the girls got ready in. Then, we took a mini tour to get in all of the downtown landmarks. Then, we crashed in on a music video that was being recorded, topped it off with a perfect sunset! (And, so much in between!)
I leave you with many, many favorites…
Lindsey’s letter to Katie had everyone in the room welling up with tears…
Katie is striking. I remember after we did their engagement shoot I kept thinking: she is parked at beautiful for the rest of her life…
Their First Look outside a vintage elevator was so sweet…
A music video was happening right outside the famous Utica mural, so they invited the wedding V.I.P.’s in for a quick dance party…
Could you tell I was obsessed with Katie? She has enough bridal portraits of her to fill an album, ha ha!
Handsome groom Lindsey in gray and white also brought the style! His groomsmen had light pink accents…
Every element of the entire day complimented each other in color and theme. These two thought of everything!
An outdoor cigar bar for guests! Pretty Little Vintage knocked the decor out of the park, it was all so beautiful…
Real and gorgeous moments…
True story: I shot the cake. Then sunset light started shimmering through the windows and I saw a whole new angle bathed in golden sun. So, I reshot the whole thing. (The mind of a madwoman) I like them both, though!
I never put the camera down during a wedding. Ever. EVER. It is in my lap even when I eat dinner. In between moments on the dance floor the bride’s brother came running through and smeared pie on Katie’s face. It was a split-second, but, got it!
Cigar bar was a hit with everyone!
Quick trip outside for some easy sunset shots…
Katie and Lindsey, can we do this every single weekend? Thank you for your trust, kindness and generosity. Looking through these photos again made my tear up. You are an incredible couple destined for amazing things and I am honored I got a small part in the beginning chapter!
xo
